Aluminum and fiberglass have made their way into the world of automotive body elements, but a majority of cars on the road today contain steel as a fundamental element of their body, as well as some original and replacement auto parts. (Continued on page 7) SCOA Automotive THE MUSCLE It can be said that a car without a crankshaft is sort of like a body without muscle. A key part of what makes a car run comes from the crankshaft, sometimes referred to as the crank. It is the part of an engine which translates reciprocating piston motion into rotating motion.
