GAS TRADING AND EXPORT Pacific Summit Energy Experiences Energy Trading and Marketing Success acific Summit Energy (PSE) was established in 2004 to expand our presence in the North American energy industry, fusing three key components to establish this business: Sumitomo Corporation’s global energy resources & experience, the Company’s proven financial strength, and a management team with over 20 years in natural gas marketing and trading experience. PSE now transacts with producers, industrial & commercial end-use customers, electric generators, gas distribution utilities and wholesale customers in natural gas, electric power and related energy businesses. P PSE trades natural gas and power with over 350 counterparties including Fortune 500 companies, utilities and major natural gas producers in more than 25 states across the U.S. PSE also engages in providing supply aggregation and credit support to retail marketing companies in the deregulated energy markets. PSE’s growth continues to trend upward, with sales in 2012 alone reaching approximately $2.5 billion. Its commercial and trading activities are primarily conducted in its office in The Woodlands, Texas, whereas the risk, credit, accounting and legal departments are based in its Newport Beach, California, office. Within a relatively short time frame, PSE has built a solid reputation and has been recognized as one of the important players in the midstream natural gas and power community. The existence of an energy marketing & trading affiliate like PSE also provides additional advantage to other Sumitomo Corporation Group companies involved in the new oil & gas exploration boom in the U.S. Sumitomo Corporation, through its subsidiaries, has 30 years’ experience in trading, transporting and marketing liquefied natural gas (LNG) throughout the world. The U.S. has historically been an importer and not an exporter of LNG, but due to the recent shale gas boom, it has emerged as an LNG exporter. As Sumitomo Corporation in the Americas expands its investments and business into more unconventional energy exploration, it is now well positioned to participate in this recent development. PSE has entered into an agreement with an affiliate of Dominion Resources, Inc., one of the major utilities in the U.S., in which PSE will have the right to use the terminal located in Cove Point, Maryland, to convert natural gas into LNG for export. 18 v i s i o n s S p r i n g | S u m m e r 2 0 1 3
