Visions - Winter 2008 - (Page 2) From the Editors Dear Visions Readers: Tanker ship transporting liquefied natural gas (LNG). Picture courtesy of Pacific Summit Energy. Cover Photographer: Cameron Davidson rowth is vital to any company’s success, and that is no different at Sumitomo Corporation of America. As businesses prosper, it follows that those businesses will grow and expand their reach. In this issue, we highlight several success stories where a company’s growth led their business groups to profitable positions in the marketplace. Our cover story on Pacific Summit Energy’s liquefied natural gas (LNG) ventures illustrates how the company experienced extensive expansion since its formation in 2004, and is growing to become a leader in natural gas marketing across the nation very soon. TBC Private Brands’ annual meeting in January is the focus of another tale of growth in this issue of Visions. From aggressive marketing to product development, Private Brands’ fiscal growth over the past year can be credited to respecting the relationship with the customer. We examine another growing financial success in our focus on Oxford Finance Corporation. As a provider of financing to innovative life science companies, Oxford reported significant loan and revenue increases this year. Oxford-funded companies are not only growing financially, but one of its companies that specializes in “regenerative medicine” is actually growing human organs from patients’ own cells! We hope you’ll grow from what you learned in this issue of Visions. Sincerely, Visions Editors Sumitomo Corporation of America, Corporate Communications G Visions magazine is published quarterly by Sumitomo Corporation of America, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Sumitomo Corporation, one of the world’s leading traders and distributors of commodities, industrial goods and consumer goods.
