It boasts more than 70 miles of walkable beaches and picturesque bays, as well as the perfect climate to enjoy them. As if that weren’t enough, it is bordered on the east by the cooling Cuyamaca Mountains, while the charms of Mexico lie conveniently to the south. With easy access to underwater parks for snorkeling, miles of single-track trails for mountain biking, a bounty of verdant golf courses in the county’s northern region, and one of the most diverse recreational parks in the nation at Mission Bay, no wonder San Diego County attracts people who enjoy getting out and exploring all the region has to offer. Wildlife is also a big part of the county’s allure, be it a raptor spotted on a trail or an orca ogled at SeaWorld, a giraffe spied at the Wild Animal Park or a gorilla glimpsed at Balboa Park’s San Diego Zoo. As the second-largest city in the state, San Diego is also an urban playground. It draws out-of-towners and locals alike to the restaurants and latenight music scene along Fifth Avenue in the Gaslamp Quarter, baseball fans to PETCO Park, and culture lovers to numerous world-class theaters and museums.
