A Spanish-style estate on more than 1,600 acres of trust land in the foothills of the Santa Cruz Mountains, it has iffy cell service and no Internet-what it does have are classes on everything from milking cows to making sausage and cheese to baking (and eating) bread from different lands. Offered yearround, Hidden Villa's programs aim to teach families, school-age kids, and adults about the environment with themed tours, hikes, lectures, hands-on workshops, classes, cultural events, music and dance performances, and community celebrations.
