At the University at Buffalo, one of the nation’s leading public
research universities, learning is something to be experienced.
Our students are motivated by curiosity, engaged with their studies
and determined to succeed. Working closely with our world-class faculty,
they’re actively involved in the creation of knowledge. And they have a
desire to use their discoveries to change the world for the better.
UB students regularly bring home prominent awards like Udall,
Fulbright and Goldwater scholarships, and our professors are internationally renowned scholars and educators who have been awarded
some of the most distinguished honors in their fields. The partnerships
that form between student and professor lead to innovative solutions
that benefit the global community.
A UB education is also a great value. A member of the prestigious
Association of American Universities, UB ranks 33rd in the Kiplinger’s
Personal Finance 2013 list of the Best Values in Public Colleges, and
19th in U.S. News and World Report for graduating students with the
least debt. With our new Finish in 4 program—a commitment to ensuring that you graduate in four years—you’ll have support in reaching
your academic goals as quickly and economically as possible.
Choose from more than 100 undergraduate degree programs,
including nearly 30 accelerated combined degree programs, or design
your own major. All this in a learning environment that is truly global.
On campus, you’ll join one of the most international student bodies in
the U.S., and the percentage of UB students who study abroad is five
times the national average.

WHAT’S NEW?
Our 85,000-square-foot Campus
Recreation Center that includes an
indoor track, fitness studios, multipurpose courts and more than 250
pieces of state-of-the-art exercise
equipment

At Stony Brook, experiential learning is everywhere, from studying
biodiversity in Madagascar, and experiencing paleoanthropological discoveries in Kenya’s Turkana Basin, to filing stories in real time from the
fabled Silk Road in China. Do research at nearby Brookhaven National
Laboratory, working closely with physicists who are breaking new
ground in our understanding of the origins of the universe. Board one
of our seagoing vessels and conduct research through our nationally
acclaimed Marine Science program.
Your education will be enriched by the lasting friendships you will
make with our culturally diverse students. Stony Brook’s beautiful
campus is located 60 miles east of Manhattan. A train station on campus
makes it easy to travel to New York City. We’re also within a bike ride of
parks, beaches and shopping. Our one-of-a-kind traditions include our
wacky cardboard boat race, the Roth Pond Regatta; the ever-popular
spring Strawberry Fest; and wearing red while cheering on our
champion Seawolves in a show of Stony Brook spirit and pride.
With more than 200 majors, minors and combined-degree programs,
Stony Brook is included among the world’s top 1% of universities by the
Times Higher Education World University Rankings. Kiplinger lists Stony
Brook as one of the 25 best values in public colleges and universities.
We’ve got our eye on your future, too. More than 90% of our recent
graduates are employed or in graduate school, and PayScale.com cites
us for top-earning alumni.
