Millennials are hard workers, but work is not their whole lives Having been in recruiting for 15 years, Eric Kropp, engineering recruiting manager at Cummins Inc., has a broad view of graduates. In an engineering job market with more jobs than people to fill them, he noted that today’s students can target where they want to be and how to achieve their goals. Though highly sought after, millennial engineers are hard workers. However, conflicts arise when millennials don’t feel they have to be physically at their desks to get work done or that an 80hour work week is the norm. Anna Grashorn, a design engineer at Cummins Power Generation, has been in the workplace since 2005. She has no qualms about working long hours to get a project done, but she also appreciates her manager who understands her need for a life outside of work. She commented, “Many boomers live to work.
