Flasche received a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is involved in many community activities, including serving as chair for the Society of Women Engineers’ collegiate interests committee and as president of the Central Ohio Section. Kelly Griswold Systems Engineer, The Boeing Company Being referred to as a “change agent” is nothing new to Kelly Griswold. Over the course of four years, she has rotated through various engineering assignments, leaving a positive impact in each organization for which she has worked. Griswold’s contributions range from improving the quality of hardware from suppliers by creating new methods for receiving parts, to piloting new technology onto commercial airplanes. In addition, she has assisted in the development and testing of new operational concepts to help pilots fly airplanes more efficiently, while saving fuel, decreasing noise, and increasing capacity of the national airspace. She has filed a U.S. patent for her work. Griswold is an advocate in promoting engineering through active roles on local and national levels in the Society of Women Engineers and by serving as president of the Puget Sound Engineering Council. Griswold received a bachelor’s degree in aeronautical/astronautical engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a master’s in systems architecture and engineering with a specialization in engineering management from the University of Southern California at Los Angeles. been granted a rare opportunity to experience the engineering and operations side of UPS, broadening her perspective of how industrial engineering impacts the daily operation of a global corporation. Four years out of college, she has been selected for six rotations within UPS. Her experience has enabled her to spearhead the recruiting and hiring of engineers for Southern California, including serving as a mentor to new UPS engineers. She also has been nominated to chair a committee for the company’s newly established Women’s Leadership Development program. Harris is a dedicated leader in the Society of Women Engineers, serving as president of the Los Angeles Section, Sonora Region Lt. Governor, national scholarship committee chair, and 2008 region conference committee chair. Eileen Vélez-Vega Experienced Civil Analyst, Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc. Eileen Vélez-Vega, E.I., combines high standards of technical excellence with a personal commitment to reach out to new and future engineers. A civil analyst in Kimley-Horn and Associates Inc.’s Florida aviation division, Vélez-Vega manages the design of airport infrastructure. She focuses on constructability and development to ensure the continued safe and effective operation of airports, while providing outstanding client service to both general and commercial aviation airports. She earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Puerto Rico at Mayagüez and is currently a Master of Science candidate for civil engineering through the University of Florida. Before joining Kimley-Horn, Vélez-Vega was a research civil engineer in the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center. An active member of the Society of Women Engineers, Vélez-Vega is the current president of the Southeast Florida Section of the Society. She is an active member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and the Transportation Research Board. She currently leads the Young Professionals’ Group at Kimley-Horn, encouraging them to succeed and give back to the community. I Jennifer Harris Package Operations Supervisor, United Parcel Service Jennifer Harris earned a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and a M.S.E. in integrated technology management from California Polytechnic State University. Since then, her fingerprints have traveled the world, assisting in the flow of global commerce. As a package operations supervisor for United Parcel Service, Van Nuys, Calif., Harris creates dispatch plans, optimizes driver delivery routes, and develops methods to improve the efficiency of global package flow.
