and being made a five-time Fellow, including a Fellow of the Society of Women Engineers — thank you very much. And now the Society of Women Engineers has honored me with their Achievement Award. Volunteering to work with children in the world of science and math helps me to repay both “Uncle Wernher” and “Uncle Albert,” in some small way, for all their time and effort with me. I think they would approve. From my first rocket launch to the present launch, I have been interested in space and things that fly. “Uncle Wernher” must have known that and certainly wouldn’t mind, as the rockets, plus the satellites they are launching, are not only going to the moon but to Mars. We put up the two little Mars Rovers over three years ago that are still investigating Mars. Now they just got a two-year reprieve to continue investigating Mars. emember, fellow scientists/ engineers, just because you have a degree in X (mine is in synthetic R organic pharmaceutical chemistry), it doesn’t mean that you will end up in that field at the end of your career. Aspire to a degree, which is a key. Take that key into your castle of life to unlock one of the doors. You may spend all your time studying that one room or even just its corner, or you may be more adventurous, as I was, and use the key to advance to explore all the rooms down the hall of the castle. Either way, remember to enjoy and have fun while achieving your life’s goals.
