The Pitch Pipe - October 2008 - (Page 3) bulletin board Absentee Ballot Voting As many of you are already aware this year’s convention takes place the same week as the U.S. presidential election on Tuesday, Nov. 4. Citizens of the U.S. attending convention will need to apply for absentee ballot voting. To obtain an absentee ballot, instruction and deadlines, contact your local city or county voter registration office. Convention Newsletter Beginning this year, there will no longer be a daily convention newsletter printed. Instead we will print the semifinal and finals scores and songs, and have them available in the HQ Office, Ticket Office and Hilton Hawaiian Village. On Sunday, the scores from the Chorus Finals will be available in the lobbies of the six convention hotels. Also, the scores will be available on our Web site following each competition. As a new feature this year, you may also opt in to receive the scores via e-mail immediately following the competition. Go to http://www.sweetadelineintl.org/competition-main.cfm to sign up. We will offer extended coverage of the convention events daily on our International Web site, the International Web cast and within blogs on our Myspace and Facebook pages. To Vote or Not To Vote Voting for your International Board of Directors is just as important as voting for your regional and chapter leaders. The International Board of Directors represents you, the member, on an international level. Election materials and a ballot were mailed to each chapter in September. It is up to the chapter leaders to schedule a chapter election meeting and to mail the chapter’s ballot back to International Headquarters by the deadline. This year the deadline is December 3, 2008. Audited Financial Statements The audited financial statements for fiscal year ending April 30, 2008, are available upon request. The Pitch Pipe Submission Policy If you would like to submit articles and story ideas to The Pitch Pipe, please e-mail Joey Mechelle Stenner at saijoey@yahoo.com or mail to P.O. Box 470168, Tulsa, OK 74147-0168. Each submission is considered for publication — not all submissions are published due to myriad reasons including, but not limited to, space, deadlines, timing, need, appropriateness and subject matter. Occasionally submissions made to The Pitch Pipe are not suitable for the publication and are forwarded to regional newsletter editors or used in other Sweet Adelines International publications. Submitted photos are only returned if accompanied with a self-addressed stamped envelope (SASE). We receive hundreds of submissions each year and regret that we cannot respond to each submission. Correction The July 2008 issue incorrectly labeled a photograph within the Coronet Club article on page 13. The center photograph is Nancy Bergman, not Renee Craig. We regret the error. contributors Ida Bilodeau, Certified International Faculty, Certified Judge (showmanship), Valley Forge Chorus, Phoenixville, Pa., Region 19 Lynnell Diamond, Music Arrangements Coordinator, Approved International Faculty, Certified Music Judge, Certified Music Arranger, Certified Director, Red RockAppella Chorus, Sedona, Ariz., Region 21 Peggy Gram, International President, Certified International Faculty, Certified Judge (showmanship), Master Director, Top of the Rock Chorus, Region 25 Carol Kankelborg, Bridger Mountain Harmony, Region 24 Maggie Ryan, The Pitch Pipe Correspondent, Editorial Review Board, Greater Harrisburg Chorus, Region 19 October 2008 3 http://www.donna@sweetadelineintl.org http://www.sweetadelineintl.org/competition-main.cfm http://www.sweetadelineintl.org/competition-main.cfm
