And why not? After all, it ‘s the home of world-renowned artist, Dale Chihuly. You could spend an entire week’s vacation visiting the sites in downtown Tacoma alone. Downtown, you can find the Tacoma Art Museum [with regularly changing exhibits] and the Museum of Glass [with live, glass-blowing action] within a half mile of each other. Both offer free admission on the third Thursday of every month during Artwalk. Artwalk, which lasts from 5-8 p.m., also features 15 local stores staying open late, just for you! If you’re taking the glass art tour of Tacoma, make sure you make two other stops. The William Traver Gallery, a stone’s throw away from the Museum of Glass, has a free gallery and a wonderful gift shop. Release the inner-artist in you by visiting the Tacoma Glassblowing Studio.
