APRIL 2009 4 Silver Stars Dazzle Magic Fans Features Some 25 Villages residents are Silver Stars, members of the senior dance team of the Orlando Magic NBA basketball team. They entertain crowds of thousands with their talent, energy and enthusiasm. 12 Camacho Cup Delivers Premier Polo 16 All Things Equestrian 24 Cutting Up in Class A record crowd of 4,000 at The Villages Polo Club witnessed the Camacho Cup’s thrilling finish as a goal in the game’s last minute was scored by Mexico for the win. Polo fans in The Villages and worldwide are still buzzing about the match. Villagers in the Horse ’N’ Around Club find this group provides fun events: trail rides through Ocala National Forest; educational field trips to area horse farms; carriage-driving lessons at a nearby ranch; picnics and more. The club’s only requirement to join is to be a Villager who adores horses. Villagers in an eight-week clown class at The Villages Lifelong Learning College discover that clowning isn’t just being silly. There’s a lot to learn, from the history of clowns, etiquette, character development and appearance. Residents find this challenge a fulfilling journey. April Malara, of the Village of Poinciana, is one of the newest graduates from the clown class offered through The Villages Lifelong Learning College.
