Floating Routines Combo Swim on Thursday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Both of these classes are held at the Lake Miona Recreation Center sports pool. The highlight of the year is the group’s annual show held in October at Laurel Manor pool. Again it isn’t as easy as it looks. The group chooses a theme. They select music for the numbers and then Donna and Trish do the choreography together. The group designs and creates all the costumes and props, and then additional entertainment is integrated to provide a complete show led by a master of ceremonies. “Our shows have evolved and grown over the years,” Trish said. Some traditional floating numbers are combined with modern props and moves to make a visually interesting show. “We try to make it more entertaining by having other groups perform with us,” Donna said. Donna Gustaitis and Trish Gutchess The other groups add variety to the show, but they also serve a useful purpose. They allow time in between numbers for the dancers to change costumes and pick up new props. This year’s theme is “Swimming Around the World” and will feature about 12 musical numbers of dancing, music and costumes with international flair. Donna said the show will begin in New York City and their first song will be “New York, New York.” London, England, will be the second stop, to be followed by France, Germany, the Middle East, Africa, Russia, Japan, Cuba and the Bahamas.
