LIFELONG LEARNING COLLEGE OFFERS DAY TRIPS Educational day trips are offered through The Villages Lifelong Learning College nearly every month. May’s trip will be to the Lowry Park Zoo in Tampa on May 21. Motor coaches will depart the Lifelong Learning College parking lot at 8 a.m. and return at approximately 5:45 p.m. Ticket cost is $58, for patron, $63 for residents, and $68 for the general public. The Lowry Park Zoo offers natural, outdoor exhibits of more than 2,000 Florida species. Exhibit habitats include a Native Florida Wildlife Center and manatee hospital, Asian Gardens, Primate World, Free-Flight Aviaries and Safari Africa. Dawn Tripp, marketing director of The Villages Lifelong Learning College, said, “What’s nice about this trip is included in the ticket price is general admission to the zoo, a behind-the-scenes tour and the River Odessey Eco Tour.” Upon arrival, a special one-hour behind the scenes tour will be given to trip participants that is not offered to the public. Following the special tour, guests will have nearly ﬁve hours of free time to enjoy the zoo exhibits and eat lunch on their own in the park. During that time, two additional shows that can be seen by all zoo visitors are Manatee Encounter and the Spirits of the Sky, a birdof-prey show. At 3:30 p.m. guests will board the boat Sirenia for a tour on the Hillsborough River to see river turtles, hawks, herons, manatees and dozens of other examples of native wildlife.
