CARS Culture 2005 Ford Mustang GT By Michael Fortuna Bill Turechek was about to fulfill a dream: getting a Ford Mustang. In 2007, the Village of Caroline resident was was looking around the lot at an Ocala dealership, about to get a new V-6 version of the Mustang. The salesman brought out a 2005 Mustang GT convertible. Once Turechek heard the car roar to life with its Flowmaster mufflers, he changed his mind. Plus, it was cheaper than the new one. Turechek helped found The Villages Mustang Club in 2007. The club, whose members own Mustangs from 1964 to present, is holding its annual car show 5 - 8 p.m. the first Friday in May at Lake Sumter Landing Market Square. For information about the club, call Turechek at 430-0165. Cars & Q. What features does the car have? A: It has a 4.6-liter V-8 engine, five-speed manual transmission, all the bells and whistles. It’s got all the features. The only thing missing was the Shaker 1000 radio with the big speakers in the trunk. I went with the lower (version). On the front (of the car) I put in an Eleanor grille. The front lights are to the center. It looks like the Eleanor from “Gone in 60 Seconds.” I changed the turn signals, and they’re now brown to blend in, to look stealthy-looking. I added a lot of chrome inside, including the radio controls, shift lever, and door handles. I had the car lowered three inches. I changed a lot of things to make it my car. Q &A MAY 2012
