Q All three days of the Memorial Day weekend, May 25-27. Stores are open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. May 25 and 27 and noon to 5 p.m. May 26. Q Nearly all merchants in Sumter Landing participate in this annual event. Q “This sale represents the end of the winter sales season and start of the summer sales season,” said Ellen Harcourt, president of the Lake Sumter Landing Merchants Association. “So, shoppers will find a lot of bargains, especially spring and winter merchandise, because the merchants are making way for their summer merchandise. There’s going to be big savings, both outside and inside the stores.” Q “Usually, Memorial Day signals the start of the summer season in The Villages with a bang,” Harcourt, of the Village of Santiago, said. “The schools are out and families are coming down with their children. That makes it a nice weekend for grandparents to shop with their grandchildren. And there’s lot’s of stores in The Villages that cater to grandchildren. So, it’s a fun thing for Villagers to do with their grandchildren.” MAY 2013
