Dr. Fernando Serra, a board-certified plastic surgeon, has completed the relocation of his medical practice — Central Florida Plastic Surgery P.A. — to 910 Old Camp Road, Suite 142, in Lake Sumter Landing Professional Plaza. About 13 years ago, Serra founded his practice in Leesburg. Three years ago, he relocated the practice to Spanish Plaines Professional Plaza. And golf-cart accessibility has been crucial for the convenience of our patients.” A hometown physician, Serra grew up in Bushnell and graduated top of his class at South Sumter High School. He then earned a medical degree at the University of Florida College of Medicine and completed specialized studies in plastic surgery at The Ohio State University College of Medicine. Serra also earned certification through the American Board of Plastic Surgery and membership in the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.

The practice specializes in facial rejuvenation, face and neck lift, eye lift, chemical peels, Botox, Restylane, Juvederm, aesthetic laser services, laser skin resurfacing, breast augmentation, breast reduction, breast lift, breast reconstruction, post-cancer surgery, body contouring, SmartLipo, liposuction, tummy tuck and body contouring, among other services. Weight loss is a big part of the practice, too, Serra said. He hired Chris Curry, an advanced registered nurse practitioner, to manage that program. “We offer the full spectrum from noninvasive to the more traditional plastic surgery,” Serra said. “Words cannot express how honored we are to have loyal customers like our friends in The Villages,” Ricci said. “We realize we could never have had a success story like this without the support of each and every customer who visited us at Lake Sumter Landing.” Customers will discover menus that feature freshly baked breads, bagels, baked egg soufflés, pastries and other sweets; and sandwiches, soups, hand-tossed salads — all served 6:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Within the first week of opening, the new Panera Bread Bakery & Café on Lake Sumter Landing Market Square sold 13,470 bagels, 10,000 sandwiches, 9,000 soups and 6,000 coffees and espressos. From the minute the doors opened April 27, Covelli Family L.P., the Panera Bread franchisee in The Villages, recorded an instant hit with the new bakery and café, 1010 Lake Sumter Landing on the east side of Market Square. The response from the community pleased Albert Covelli, the franchise’s president and chief executive officer. “I am thrilled with the positive response from all of our customers,” Covelli said. By the end of the first week, the Sumter Landing bakery-café set the following records: • Biggest grand opening week in terms of sales the past five years at the corporate and franchise level. • Biggest day in sales the past five years at the corporate and franchise level. Devoted customers get all the credit for the bakerycafé’s early success, said Kevin Ricci, Covelli Family’s operating partner.
