Belk In The Villages
The Belk Inc. department store in The Villages recently celebrated winning the company’s Southern Division Best Store award by getting ready for some major upgrades in the store’s product mix. Charlotte, N.C.-based Belk recognized the strong sales performance and high customer satisfaction that Ken Williams, store manager, and his staff have produced at this popular retailer in La Plaza Grande Shopping Center. Villagers and area residents get all the credit for the store’s performance, Williams said. “It’s absolutely location, location, location,” Williams said about the store’s success. “We’re sitting in one of the fastest-growing areas in the country. And I truly believe that the developer has done a phenomenal job with this area and has created somewhat of a mecca. It’s been done right, and continues to be done right, and just keeps attracting more and more people.” For more information, visit the store at 1020 Bichara Blvd., just south of the Publix Supermarket, or call 753-0227. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday. In wake of the honor, Williams and his staff are getting ready for some major changes.

Because of consumer demand, Williams said, the store this summer will more than double the size of the shoe department. That demand explains why the store also is increasing the number of its Jones New York Signature women’s apparel line. “Right now, I’m the leading store in the Southern Division in Jones New York,” Williams said. “We can’t keep the merchandise on the racks.” That’s not all, either. “We’re going to be one of five (Belk) test stores that will have the lady Columbia sportswear mix added in the fall,” Williams said.

Patients are encouraged to ask Gudipati any question they might have about their prescriptions. “Because of my experience, I talk a lot with the customer,” Gudipati said. “And I encourage them to ask questions. My job is to make sure the patient is satisfied.”
Two years of hard work paid off last month when Ossie Cornelio and Venkat Gudipati opened their first neighborhood pharmacy in Buffalo Ridge Plaza Shopping Center. The good friends and business partners had two goals in mind when they opened Oxford Pharmacy, 3612 Wedgewood Lane in the small retail plaza across from The Villages High School. “We want customers to walk away fully satisfied,” said Cornelio, the pharmacy’s president and chief executive officer. “That is our motto. We welcome customers with a smile, and hope they leave with a smile.” The second goal centered on pricing, Cornelio said. “We’re very reasonable and very competitive,” Cornelio said. “At the same time, we don’t compromise on quality.” For more information, call the pharmacy at 750-1400.
