Father’s Day Memories

You’ll find them trudging down a river bank with fishing tackle and son in tow, ready to haul in a legendary trout and reinforce their hero’s standing in their little one’s eyes.
JUNE 2012
They rise early in the morning before the kids are awake, put on some coffee, fill up their Thermos and head out to the job site. Other times, they close the door to their study, pour a choice drink and read through some of their favorite volumes. Their strong hands will reach down to tuck in a tuckered-out son or daughter. The portraits of life painted by fathers are as varied as the intricacies that make up the man many of us knew simply as “Dad.” The stories of these men are found everywhere. As Father’s Day draws near, Villagers reflect on their experiences both as fathers and sons.
