Consumer convenience at Hop to The Villages Finding local contact information in The Villages has become much more convenient. The Villages Media Group has unveiled Hop to The Villages, an enhanced website at hoptothevillages.com, which makes the search for local products and professional services much easier. It complements an existing health care services portal, hoptothevillagesrx.com. Consumers now have an easy way to search for local business contacts through a comprehensive search engine, said Dan Sprung, the media group’s sales and marketing manager. The newly launched website is a local search engine for business names, phone numbers, address and even mapping tools that show how to get to that business. Online users may search by browsing common categories or by typing a keyword in the search field window. What’s more, the search engine even indicates if the business is golf-cart accessible with a “Golf Car Approved” logo, Sprung said. Results will provide a list of names, addresses and phone numbers. Choosing an individual business name with a click will reveal a locator map with an option for driving directions to the business. Enhanced listings on the website offer more information about the business or service, including business profile, photos, video and a way to send a quick e-mail reference to a friend. “This database of information that makes up the listings on the site is constantly being updated,” Sprung said. “The overall goal is to make people’s lives easier.” GO & DO Business Briefs Retail Briefs Girls Night Out is Back July 8 The Spanish Springs Town Square Merchants Association will sponsor one of its most popular events this month. Shoppers should mark their calendars for 4 to 8 p.m. July 8, when the merchants feature the Summer Girls Night Out fundraiser. All proceeds from the Spanish Springs event will benefit the Central Florida affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure, a national nonprofit group that supports breast cancer awareness and research. Here’s how it works. Shoppers register at one of two registration tables conveniently located in Spanish Springs. In exchange for a nominal donation, each shopper receives a map of participating Spanish Springs merchants. The shopper then must visit each merchant to get the map stamped or signed by an authorized merchant. Once finished, the shopper returns the completed map to the registration table to become eligible for a prize drawing. Shoppers also can take advantage of special sales and discounted merchandise just for the event. During the semi-annual events, the merchants have raised hundreds of dollars for the Komen organization. JULY 2010 http://www.hoptothevillagesrx.com
