Louise "Robbie" Robinson loves taking
her truck for a spin around The Villages.
But it isn't an F-150, Ram or Silverado; it's an
Atomic Electric Vehicles truck, which she can take on
both the road and the golf course.
Robinson relies on her truck - affectionately
named "Ruby" - to take her everywhere around
Florida's Friendliest Hometown, from her home in the
Village of Belle Aire to Brownwood and back.
Prior to moving to The Villages in 2013, Robinson
and her partner traveled the country in a fifth-wheel
RV. Even though she sold her full-sized truck before
moving here, Robinson still wanted a truck she could
drive around the golf car-friendly roads in the area.

"All of my adult life, I've owned a pickup truck,"
Robinson said. "When we moved here, (I didn't have)
a place to park my pickup, so I sold it and we bought a
golf car."
At a health fair at The Villages Polo Club, Robinson
discovered the truck golf car made by Atomic Electric
Vehicles and decided she had to have it.
"When my partner saw them, she came and got me
and said, 'This is what you have to have. You have to get
a pickup.' So we got an estimate," Robinson said.
To give her new golf car some added flair, Robinson
added personal touches to the interior and exterior,
including a Sirius satellite radio, a backup camera,
running lights, decals and more.

"Every time I go somewhere, before I get my groceries
put in it, I have to stop and talk to somebody," Robinson
said. "It's a real eye-opener, so I tell them all about it."
No matter where she goes, Robinson arrives in style
and comfort thanks to her fully loaded golf car. The golf
car's battery charge lasts long enough for two trips to
Brownwood and back, meaning Robinson has no need
for a full-size vehicle.
"What else can I say about her except she's my baby?"
Robinson said. "All really good toys deserve a name, and
Ruby is her name."
