INDEPENDENT LIVING IN HIGH STYLE Seeing is believing. Freedom Pointe welcomed new residents last month into the beautifully designed building offering an independent high-style lifestyle with a full range of amenities. “It’s a breathtaking building. In all the years I’ve done this, this is really breathtaking,” said Jackie Holmes, director of marketing. The resort-feel independent-living community opened its door in mid-September with approximately one-third of its condominiums available for future residents. The concept of full-life care is a benefit that has required Freedom Pointe to educate the community. “We’ve operated Homewood in the community for more than 10 years. A lot of people thought we were expanding Homewood, but that’s not the case. This is a very upscale, luxurious, independent full-life care community that you get to come and live there forever,” said Chris Bird, vice president of sales. Brookdale Senior Living saw a need to offer independent living with a wide range of amenities and services to complement the Village of Homewood, a successful assisted living center that has been part of The Villages for more than 10 years. “Freedom Pointe is the absolutely next logical step in The Villages,” said Holmes. “We are independent living to start. People are pleasantly surprised when they look at the whole concept of a continuing care retirement community and see the value of it today for the rest of their lives. I love it when I’m working with someone and the light bulb comes on and they really understand that they are independent now, but since we have a life-care contract with them no matter what, they’ll have a place to live for the rest of their lives. This is pretty special. They realize this is a gift to themselves and their children,” Holmes said. Freedom Pointe offers nine condominium floor plans ranging in size from a 604-square-foot studio to a 1,692-square-foot two bedroom, two bath with a den. Amenities include: dining room, pub and bistro, indoor heated pool, wellness center, 2,700-square-foot outdoor putting green, library, computer room and business center, barber and beauty shop, bank, woodshop, billiard and craft rooms, transportation and 24-hour security.
