The Villages - November 2010 - (Page 10)

LeadstheWay South of County Road 466A By STEVE TRIVETT He sees things that most of us can only imagine. Ken Ezell horsed his big 4-wheel drive SUV over the dirt ruts and across the pasture still covered with barren grass and a few reminders that cows once called this ground home. As bulldozers, dump trucks and a steam shovel hummed in the distance, Ezell jumped from the driver’s seat, rolled a set of what looked like blueprints across the hood of the SUV and pointed toward a white stake in the distance. “That’s the fairway landing area for the first-hole tee shot,” he said. “Then you will play your second shot between those two trees, and that will leave you a short iron to the green.” Wait a second. I can see a tee box, a fairway and a green on the north side of County Road 466A from where we are standing — on the Truman executive golf course — not where Ezell is pointing. But I know better than to doubt him. NOVEMBER 2010
