SPORTS & RECREATION For this fun group of ladies, golf is all about friendship. G lf C h i c k s Left to right: Ginny Alm, Toni Czapor, Toni Millar, Helen Mancuso and Ginger Cullen. By KATIE BACKMAN The early September sun shone down on De La Vista’s executive golf course. The course was quiet, a gentle breeze blew. In the midst of the peacefulness one could hear the repeated clink of a golf driver. NOVEMBER 2011 Once all the ladies launched their golf balls from the tee box, they hopped back in their carts and continued chatting about their golf game, what they did on the previous weekend or what they hope to do during the upcoming weekend. There’s never a dull moment with the Golf Chicks. Every Monday, the group takes over a few executive courses to enjoy a round of golf. The Golf Chicks is a group of women who have been golfing once a week for about 12 years. The membership has changed throughout the years, but the purpose of the group hasn’t, said Arlene Snay, president. For about 12 years, women throughout The Villages have joined together to play golf, socialize and create lasting friendships, she said.
