1934 Ford Coupe
By Michael Fortuna im Maiurro has a new set of wheels, and it’s his first street rod. The Village of Tall Trees resident recently bought a dark-red 1934 Ford, a two-door, threewindow coupe street rod, and he plans to add some features to the car in the coming months. Maiurro, who is vice president of The Villages Vintage Car Club, has been with the club for six years. He and other club members will be taking part in the Christmas Car Cruise In, which will be held 4 to 9 p.m. Dec. 17 at Spanish Springs Town Square. “I enjoy the show down in The Villages a lot,” Maiurro said. “I like being with my fellow members in the club and some of the guys who aren’t in the group. I like people saying they had a car like this, or my dad or my brother had one. “I like the idea that there’s so many different cars (at the Cruise In). I’ll donate an unwrapped toy (which will benefit needy families in the area). Absolutely (it’s a great idea for the toy drive). It’s going to the kids. That’s what it’s all about.”

Q. How long have you had the car?
A: Six months. I just bought it.

Q. Where did you find it?
A: Right down here in Florida, on (County Road) 25. The car was looking for me, without a doubt. On a chance, (the previous owner) wanted to sell it. He didn’t want to take it back up north. That’s how I got it.
Q. What condition was the car in when you bought it?
A: Right now is the way it was when I bought it. My plans are to do a lot to (the truck). (On a scale of one to 10, the car was) an eight. It has 25,000 miles on (the odometer). I liked that it was a street rod. I’ve always owned all kinds of vehicles.
