Managing Automation - January 2008 - (Page 47) operates continuously for eight to 10 hours on a full charge, the company reports. The M220 can also read in excess of 100 tags per second. The list price for RF Code’s M220 Mobile Reader is $995. www.managingautomation.com/RFcode DUST NETWORKS WIRELESS SENSOR NETWORKING D ust Networks has rolled out the SmartMesh IA-500 family of wireless sensor networking systems, which complies with the new WirelessHart standard for industrial device networks. The first product in the family, the 2.4-GHz SmartMesh IA-510, includes Dust’s Intelligent Networking Platform, combined with low-power radio technology, and an embedded network manager that integrates with WirelessHart gateways. The wireless technology is based on Dust’s Time Synchronized Mesh Protocol (TSMP), which enables a self-heal- ing, self-organizing, redundant, and reliable environment. WirelessHart, the first wireless standard for the industrial market based on the HART 7.0 specification, includes a communications protocol for transmitting data between devices and the sensor network. Dust Networks is working with Emerson Process Management and Phoenix Contact to incorporate SmartMesh IA-510 technology into WirelessHart-based field devices. Products will be available in early 2008. www.managingautomation.com/Dust BANNER ENGINEERING CORP. WIRELESS NETWORKING anner Engineering Corp. has announced the DX70 SureCross Wireless Network, an affordable, yet high-performance, two-way communication wireless sensing product designed for industrial environments. The DX70 package includes a dedicated wireless industrial I/O system that directly maps I/O using a Gateway and Node, each equipped with four discrete inputs and outputs, two analog inputs and outputs, and B link loss output. The DX70 also offers twoway RX/TX communications with full acknowledgment and easy installation, making it a cost-effective, simple-to-implement solution for remote I/O applications or plant environments where conduit and wiring are impractical, the company said. The product can be used in a wide range of applications, including remote I/O data acquisition, remote monitoring of towers or tank farms, loading dock occupancy monitoring, physical plant energy monitoring, detection of water tank levels in ethanol plants, or train car location monitoring. The SureCross solution, available now, is priced from less than $1,000. www.managingautomation.com/Banner 47 January 2008 http://www.managingautomation.com/RFcode http://www.managingautomation.com/Dust http://www.managingautomation.com/Banner http://www.isa.org/cooljobs http://www.isa.org/cooljobs
