The system integrates with SAP and leading third-party parcel carriers’ systems to provide visibility and control over the order fulfillment process from the warehouse to the customer, the company said. As goods arrive in packing areas, XPS provides a series of graphical screens. From these screens, operators can facilitate the loading of products into the right packages and containers using a range of pre-configured options. The system also generates detailed bar-code labels covering specific customer requests and key information required by shipping companies. XPS was developed in native SAP programming languages, using the standard SAP objects and architecture, the company said. www.managingautomation.com/Catalyst I ntended for use in a wide range of automation and control applications, Beckhoff Automation’s CX1010 Embedded PC features a 500-MHz Pentium MMX-compatible processor and starts at under $1,000, including bundled TwinCAT PLC software and the C COMPIERE INC. OPEN SOURCE ERP C ompiere Inc. has enhanced its integrated, open source ERP and CRM application package with several new features, as well as a new Professional Edition version of the package tailored for mid- Microsoft Windows operating system. In PLC or motion control applications, the CX1010 can be used with or without visualization. Ethernet connectivity is built-in, and one DVI and two USB interfaces can be added. Further system interfaces for serial communication (2 x RS-232 or 2 x RS422/485) or audio signals are available separately. In addition to EtherCAT compatibility, other system I/O and fieldbus interfaces from the CX family can be connected via a PC/104 interface, which is available on both sides of the device.
