PHARMA COMPLIANCE SOFTWARE A recent wave of quality control lapses at pharmaceutical manufacturers has helped point up the need for traceability in the drug creation and distribution process, and a looming 2009 mandate for e-pedigree visibility in California has spurred the introduction of new RFID-based products that create better traceability practices. Acsis Inc.’s PharmaTrak 2.0 is one such offering, delivering track-and-trace capabilities spanning from the warehouse or distribution center to the point of sale. PharmaTrak 2.0 works in SAP-based environments and can handle both serialized bar codes and RFID tags. The Acsis system does not handle serialization of products at the item level in the manufacturing process, but covers case, pallet, and shipment serialization from the distribution point on. In addition, “it supports both a mixture of serialized and non-serialized product shipments,” says Andre Pino, chief marketing officer at Acsis, since not all of a manufacturer’s products may be subject to the California regulation. www.managingautomation.com/Acsis2 most popular SCM apps ZYCUS INC.
