Bundling of the JDA Enterprise Architecture and HP hardware, JDA said, allows for accurate supply chain planning without arbitrary modeling constraints or assumptions. The Version 7.4 release of the JDA Enterprise Architecture software has been tested and benchmarked running on the HP server and storage hardware, JDA said. Tests revealed that the combination is capable of generating 2.2 billion forecast records, 79.1 million planned and constrained replenishments, and 38,000 supplier order line items. JDA customers migrating from older HP servers to the new Enterprise Architecture v7.4/Integrity bundle can take advantage of the HP 9000 Evolution Program consulting services, which help customers make the transition. The Version 7.4 release of the JDA Enterprise Architecture is available now. www.managingautomation.com/JDA INTELLIGENT INSTRUMENTATION VEHICLE-MOUNT GRAPHICS COMPUTER I BALLUFF INC. OPTICAL SENSOR B alluff Inc. has unveiled an optical sensor that it says fills the gap between conventional discrete sensors and vision systems. Called Sharpshooter, the sensor’s small size (58x52x40mm) allows it to be placed anywhere a photoelectric sensor can be used. The product, using vision technology, provides part and product detection, part configuration, and dimensional and/or position confirmation, the company says. The sensor has a built-in, lockable focus adjustment lens ntelligent Instrumentation has added LANpoint7 vehicle-mount computers with a Windows CE.NET operating system running on an Intel X-Scale processor. The rugged AutoID computers, with waterproof, dustproof cases, are designed for industrial, manufacturing, and supply chain applications. The computers have IEEE802.11b/g wireless connectivity, are RoHS-compliant, and have non-volatile storage expandable to 500MB. Among the new features are a more compact size than its predecessors, with an integrated full-size keyboard, a brighter 1/2 VGA LCD display with a wider viewing angle, and additional software utilities, such as a lock-down (kiosk) Web browser that runs Web-based applications while locking out surfing and other non-productive uses. www.managingautomation.com /IntelligentInstrumentation WAVETREND TECHNOLOGIES LTD. WIRELESS GLOBAL TRACKING W and four projectable LED marks to define the target area for alignment of the camera image area. A configurable discrete I/O can be used to trigger the sensor and external lighting, signal pass/fail status to external controls, and change internal operational jobs. An Ethernet TPC/IP port enables easy configuration by PC directly or over a network. www.managingautomation.com/Balluff avetrend Technologies Ltd., based in the United Kingdom, has combined its active RFID capabilities with Virginia-based System Planning Corp.’s asset tracking and condition monitoring system to develop GlobalEyes, a global tracking product. The offering provides real-time visibility and intelligence on the location, condition, status, and other details related to assets in transport or in the field, improving supply chain visibility and security and reliability in complex global networks. The product combines two-way communication technologies, such as RFID, GPS, and ZigBee wireless mesh networks, with a Web-based information management capability that offers remote and real-time visibility. A mobile reader infrastructure, which obviates the need for a fixed reader, provides continuous data transmissions to enable real-time decision-making, Wavetrend says. www.managingautomation.com/Wavetrend http://www.managingautomation.com/JDA http://www.ats-global.com http://www.managingautomation.com/IntelligentInstrumentation http://www.managingautomation.com/IntelligentInstrumentation http://www.managingautomation.com/Balluff http://www.managingautomation.com/Wavetrend http://www.ats-global.com
