In addition, the AutoCAD 2009 INFOR PRODUCT LIFECYCLE MANAGEMENT nfor has released a new version of its product lifecycle management offering, Infor PLM 8, with improved collaboration and visibility features. Targeted mainly at manufacturers in discrete industries, such NEW MOMENTUM SUPPLY CHAIN RISK MANAGEMENT I N release upgrades AutoCAD LT as well as discipline-specific CAD applications AutoCAD Architecture, AutoCAD Electrical, AutoCAD Mechanical, and AutoCAD MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing). All of those applications in the AutoCAD family get the new user interface, which reduces the number of steps necessary to reach commands and provides common tools for operations, such as file open and close, rotate, pan, and zoom. Those tools will be supported in the next several releases of Autodesk products, the company said. In order to find strategic parts whose supplies may have become constrained, a manufacturer enters the specific part number into the Constrained Parts Finder user interface. The service then performs a parametric search and provides the names of sellers of the part, its location, price, quantity, alternative sources, and compliance status. By providing up-to-date information, as automotive, industrial equipment, aerospace, and high tech, PLM 8 offers improved file check-in functionality and enhanced version confirmation for drawings, formulas, bills of material, and engineering change orders. The enhancements alert departments to changes in an open document.
