VEHICLE-MOUNTED PCS A dvantech Corp. has added a new generation of vehicle-mounted computers aimed at customers looking for high performance in the supply chain and logistics sectors. The TREK-775 and TREK-776 enable secure wireless connectivity in supply chain management for data processing in logistics management, warehouse inventory control, distribution accounting, ports, and yard freight management. Both units come in a die-cast aluminum housing for harsh environments. They feature an Intel LV Pentium M 1.1-GHz or ULV Celeron M 600-MHz processor, and a selection of Windows XP Embedded, XP, and Windows Embedded CE 5.0 operating systems. Various I/O ports are available for connecting peripheral devices, such as bar code devices, RFID scanners, and printers. Available now, the TREK-775 is priced from $2,150 and the TREK-776 from $2,250. across multiple platforms in the enterprise, including LANs, WANs, tablet PCs, and mobile devices. The company said an updated user interface is easily learned and customizable. The application can be configured to meet industry-specific requirements at the enterprise, regional, or business-unit level, the company said. The .NET frameworkbased application runs as a managed application using Microsoft’s Common Language Runtime (CLR), and is said to provide better resource management, more administration and deployment options, and improved security. As with earlier iterations, version 10 includes support for established workflow capabilities, rather than imposing new business processes on users. www.managingautomation.com/StayinFront enabling close collaboration between the design and manufacturing teams, the software can help companies lower scrap costs, decrease production time, and deliver products to market more quickly. The Infor EAM Enterprise Edition replaces Infor’s Datastream 7i EAM product and is available now. The new version includes built-in functionality for the manufacturing, fleet management, facilities management, and life sciences industries. The software combines asset management and analytical functionality. (PTC) has introduced Pro/TOOLMAKER 8.1, a stand-alone application that provides multi-CAD support to enable associative, reliable NC toolpath programming for Pro/ENGINEER and other CAD systems. With optimized high-speed machining capabilities, the company said, Pro/TOOLMAKER offers manufacturing engineers and machinists a package of NC programming capabilities that include NC post-processing and tooling libraries in a single product.
