The company’s Service Manual Application is based on dynamic publishing software that PTC gained in 2005 through the acquisition of Arbortext Inc. Manufacturers can use the Service Manual Application to create printed or electronic manuals, complete with interactive illustrations. The Service Manual Application makes use of the R ockwell Automation Inc. has rolled out the Allen-Bradley CompactLogix L45 controller, a multi-disciplined platform that integrates motion with distributed control capabilities. Ideal for machine builders and end users with small- to midrange applications, the L45 controls up to eight axes of motion; supports multiple network cards, including DeviceNet, ControlNet, and Ethernet/IP; and enables seamless interaction between factory floor devices and enterprise business systems. CompactLogix L45 is part of the Logix Control Platform, which leverages the Streamline the Product Selection Process manufacturing output rules, among other features. BuyDesign 5.0 includes support for remote deployment over the Internet or a company intranet. BuyDesign can be deployed as a desktop application for users who need to produce sales quotes when not connected to a network. It can also be deployed as a distributed workgroup application where several people need to share local information. The release includes a template-based approach to creating the rules used by the product’s configurator engine.
