Meanwhile, in addition to working with Web services when monitoring the components of an SOA, the iWay SOA Management Suite can now monitor additional services created from the applications, technologies, databases, platforms, and protocols that iWay supports. And the iWay Integration Workbench, an integrated development environment, is now able to use the open source Eclipse framework, improving productivity for developers that use the various components of the iWay integration toolkit. www.managingautomation.com/iWay PS’SOFT CORP. The vision sensor uses up to four intelligent cameras and Omron’s Advanced Real Color Sensing (ARCS) engine, which captures and processes 16.77 million colors. The FZ controller comes built into a O ices to understand the financial impact of an event, such as a router failure, on business operations. Using an IT business intelligence component, for example, IT executives can conduct queries on assets and services, and publish the data in custom dashboards for senior executives. Additional platform support includes Oracle Database 10g, Microsoft SQLServer 2005, and Internet Explorer 7. www.managingautomation.com/PSsoft ICONICS HMI/SCADA achine-to-machine technology provider SAVR Communications has announced availability of two new products in its CostSAVR line, a family of active identification devices for remote tracking and monitoring of assets. These battery-powered tags are capable of communicating their presence at pre-programmed time intervals. In addition, the CostSAVR active tag supports on-demand polling, meaning that the unit waits for an information request before it transmits, thereby extending battery life. The CostSAVR 100 has a 100' range; the CostSAVR 150 has a 300' range. Both tags can function as mesh radios in order to transmit their collected data to other SAVR units in the SENTRY product family. The master SENTRY unit then rolls everything up and communicates with the company’s central server through any of the various communication modes that the SENTRY supports. The SENTRY platform supports numerous communication capabilities, such as WiFi, RFID, Cellular (GSM/GPRS), and LEO (Low Earth Orbit) Satellites. i touch screen LCD monitor to reduce panel space or in a conventional box-type unit. Images and toolsets are presented onscreen for easy drag-and-drop setup, while the online editing functions allow changes to be made without stopping the line. Embedded simulation software allows trial measurements to be performed on a computer using prepared images in order to verify adjustments in advance without requiring the controller. Available now, a single-camera FZ color vision camera with box-style controller starts at $6,800 list; a single-camera with LCD monitor/controller starts at $7,400. www.managingautomation.com/Omron www.managingautomation.com/SAVR CONICS announced GENESIS64, a 64bit Web-enabled HMI/SCADA suite that leverages Microsoft’s Windows Vista, .NET, and SharePoint technologies, allowing plant operators and IT professionals to access integrated real-time manufacturing and business information from a common Web-enabled dashboard. The software, built on OPC Unified Architecture (UA) technology, provides a 3D graphical environment, allowing users to see how a plant or facility is performing. ICONICS has created applications that provide at-a-glance information via Vista tie-ins to real-time KPI Gadgets and Windows Vista Desktop Sidebar and Sideshow technology. GENESIS64 also integrates with Windows Presentation Foundation with 3D visualization, Windows Workflow Foundation, and Windows Vista Search and Organize technology. While the software is Web-configurable, GENESIS64 takes advantage of Windows Vista User Account VALUE ENGINEERING ALLIANCE MACHINE VISION FOR PRINT INSPECTION T he Value Engineering Alliance (VEA) has enhanced its PQEye print-quality inspection appliance, adding more powerful resolution to the camera-based instrument and beefing up its processing potential. The PQEye is used in manufacturing environments to verify the “position, correctness, and quality of text and graphics” that are machine-printed on components, according to VEA. The old resolution maximum of 782(H) x 582(V) pixels has been increased to 1,280(H) x 1,024(V), a level of precision that allows the PQEye to detect smaller defects than past models could. The latest version of the product also supports Texas Instruments digital signal processors that run at 1 GHz and offer computational power of 8,000 MIPS. The PQEye measures 120 x 50 x 35 mm, without a lens. www.managingautomation.com/VEA 55 December 2007 http://www.managingautomation.com/Iconics http://www.managingautomation.com/iWay http://www.managingautomation.com/PSsoft http://www.managingautomation.com/SAVR http://www.managingautomation.com/Omron http://www.managingautomation.com/VEA
