MOTOROLA INC. www.managingautomation.com/BlueCielo WIRELESS LAN FOR HAZARDOUS SITES he Haz-Loc certified AP-5181 outdoor access point (AP) from Motorola’s Enterprise Mobility business is designed to extend the wireless enterprise into the harshest work environments. Petro-chemical, oil and gas, aerospace, power generation and utilities, mining, and manufacturing organizations can deploy AP-5181 APs without the need for extra cabling by using Motorola’s wireless mesh technology. The addition of these new access points in a Motorola customer’s control network — the main network used to control plant equipment/machinery — enables more sensors and metering devices to be supported, providing critical information such as temperature, humidity, and pressure readouts of plant machinery. The deployment of AP-5181 APs also extends the IT network outdoors in hard-to-wire environments. The benefit is mobile operator applications that were previously completed in the plant office, such as filing field inspections, issuing repair work orders, and checking maintenance records and parts inventories, can now be done in the field. www.managingautomation.com/Motorola PROCOMSOL LTD.
