The Prepaid Press - June 15, 2008 - (Page 24) PAYMENTS June 15 · 2008 - 24 MasterCard Uses CSC Platform Debit and Prepaid Payment Processing FALLS CHURCH, VA, (May 28, 2008) Computer Sciences Corporation (NySE: CSC) announced that MasterCard Worldwide is using CSC’s CAMS II Card & Merchant System to power its newly launched debit and prepaid processing platform, MasterCard Integrated Processing Solutions (IPS). The announcement said that the MasterCard platform provides services enabling financial institutions to expand their payments offerings across banking channels. CAMS II is the functional and architectural foundation of MasterCard IPS, and uses a highperformance transaction processing engine that scales to manage the industry’s highest volumes, according to CSC. The announcement said that specific IPS services include PIN and signature debit and prepaid transaction processing, fraud detection, rewards and loyalty programs, and ATM network management. In addition to the software agreement, CSC said it is providing MasterCard with related professional services and has provided business domain expertise and program management, testing and Web development services during MasterCard’s development of IPS. “We chose CSC’s leading payments management software over the alternatives for its deep functionality, scalability and flexibility,” said Philip Tollison, senior vice president and group head, Integrated Processing Solutions, MasterCard Worldwide. “Leadership in the rapidly changing payments arena is what our financial institution customers expect of MasterCard. Only by basing our solutions on the best available technology can we succeed in providing a seamless user experience across the full spectrum of payments processing -- from card program design through call center servicing.” “MasterCard Worldwide joins leading Tier 1 debit and prepaid card issuers across the globe that have selected CAMS II for their missioncritical cards payments solutions,” said Jim Cook, president of CSC’s Financial Services Sector. “A leading source of payment industry technology and services for nearly 20 years, CSC is committed to providing integrated, highly scalable products and services across the cards and payments lifecycle to strengthen the success of new product introductions and help minimize risk.” MasterCard IPS is expected to be available in the United States in mid-2008. (OTCBB:NFSE), announced that it has executed a non-binding letter of intent providing a $15 million line of credit from institutional investors and shareholders, including Ballyshannon Partners, LP, an affiliate of one of its directors. This line of credit will support the Company’s objective of offering nFinanSe Reloadable Prepaid and Gift Cards in 30,000 retail locations by year’s end. Currently, the Company has commitments to offer its cards from retailers representing over 20,000 stores, which are expected to commence selling cards this summer. Jerry R. Welch, nFinanSe’s Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, said, “We are very excited to obtain this important and unique accounts receivable financing. Our prepaid cards are `instant issue’ and do not require the customer to wait 7-10 days after purchase to receive a card in the mail like the cards sold by our major competitors. As a result, we believe this `instant issue’ feature is a major competitive advantage for our Company. This credit facility will allow us to fund the cards from the moment they are sold to cardholders even though the actual funds collected at retail have not yet been routed through our distributors to nFinanSe.” Raymond P. Springer, nFinanSe’s Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, added, “The credit facility will be used solely to finance accounts receivables generated from the sale of the Company’s retail prepaid cards through certain prepaid distributors and large direct retail accounts. We are very pleased to have arranged this line of credit in such a difficult credit market and we believe it reflects the confidence in, and enthusiasm for, our business plan.” Springer also stated that he expected final documentation to be completed and the financing closed by the end of June. The card allows travelers to load and lock-in their rate for British Pounds or Euros. “The launch has been outstanding,” said Christopher Russell, Travelex executive vice president of outsourcing, Americas. “Initial response has been overwhelmingly positive, especially in terms of being able to lock-in the exchange rate. We sold 46 cards the first day which more than tripled the first day sales of any of our previous card launches anywhere in the world.” Cash Passport can be used to withdraw money from ATMs or be used to purchase goods and services in any retailer that accepts Debit MasterCard, according to the announcement. The company said that if the card is lost or stolen, the balance is protected and can be replaced in as little as 20 minutes around the world. Two cards can be purchased with different account numbers that can access the same pool of money so travelers can share cards or have a backup card should one be lost or stolen. “Our customers have been ecstatic about this product,” said Sara Sheikhlar, Manager for the Travelex JFK and LaGuardia Airport retail stores. “Customers buying the card comment that the security of the card and the locked-in rates bring them peace of mind. The excitement around Cash Passport has been fabulous and our customers recognize the value. I’m so sold on it that I plan to use the card when I travel.” The Cash Passport offers greater security than carrying large amounts of cash, according to Travelex. The announcement said that the card has all of the buyer protections and guarantees that come with a Debit MasterCard card. Cash Passport comes with Global Emergency Assistance which offers customers a number to call for assistance 24-hours a day for lost wallets or passports, medical assistance, legal problems and translation assistance. “Our research shows that travelers are increasingly worried about identity theft and security when traveling abroad,” said Russell. “This combined with the increase in overseas travelers has made Cash Passport the right product at the right time.” Source: Travelex (www.cashpassport.com) AEIS recently named Russell yergensen as chief financial officer. yergensen brings over 20 years of financial expertise to his position, 15 of which were spent with AEIS parent company American Express.
