The Prepaid Press - January 2009 - (Page 26) GIFT CARDS & PROMOTIONS Dec. 2008 / Jan. 2009 - 26 Gift Cards & Promotions in Brief Ace Marketing & Promotions Inc. (OTCBB:AMKT) has partnered with Def Leppard to support their next tour with Proximity Marketing Bluetooth and Wi-fi content delivery system, bringing a sponsorcentric and interactive media component to their show. During the band’s past summer “Sparkle Tour,” Def Leppard explored possibilities during their live events by piloting this technology, which is quickly becoming recognized in music as Rockzimity a play of words from Ace Marketing’s flagship brand Proximity Marketing. Def Leppard kicked off the pilot last year at the Joe Louis Arena in Detroit where a couple of lucky fans won a trip backstage to meet the band in the “Sparkle Lounge,” a band exclusive area where many of the Def Leppard hits were born, and many fans won Sparkle Lounge T-shirts when receiving a “You’ve Won” coupon directly on their mobile device. Ace Marketing – www.acemarketing.net for the average wholesale site, would allow more of Shell’s 500-plus wholesalers to take advantage of Shell Rewards, a consumer loyalty program now available at more than 1,200 Shell-branded locations, and help them become PCI compliant well ahead of the payment card industry’s June 2010 deadline. Source: Convenience Store News – www.csnews.com Shell Products US has launched a new offering to help keep the major brand competitive while helping overwhelmed marketers meet the payment card industry’s data security standards. The bundle includes a new Shell gasoline branded payment card that reduces merchant fees and a variety of point-of-sale technology initiatives. The technology package, dubbed Shell Site Systems Solution (S4) and worth approximately $20,000 Uno Chicago Grill is now offering a virtual gift card. The card can be used at over 200 locations in the U.S., and can also be used at Uno Due Go, the brand’s newest fast-casual concept. The virtual gift cards are available via the chain’s website at www. unos.com and are powered by CashStar, an interactive gift card and incentives company. Consumers order them the same way they order a plastic gift card, only the virtual gift card is delivered via an email with a link to activate the gift. Available in denominations of $25 or $50, there are nine designs to choose from, and each card can be personalized with a message. Uno also offers plastic gift cards via its website and its restaurants. Unos – www.unos.com CashStar – www.cashstar.com holiday donations to nonprofit groups. The Bethesda-based nonprofit Network for Good offers “Good Cards,” which can be applied to any of the 1.5 million registered charities in the U.S. Corporations are also getting into the game: The country’s largest mutual fund, Fidelity Investments, began a program last month that allows clients’ friends and family to donate to charity with e-mail gift certificates. The giver goes to one of at least half a dozen Web sites, pays a small transaction fee and chooses a recipient and gift amount. Recipients receive either an e-mail or a plastic gift card directing them to the site, where they can browse different charities, then apply the gift to a favorite. The gift can be split among several groups. The system sends an e-mail to the gift-giver with information about where the recipient donated the money.
