© goodluz/SHuttErStock.com TOOLs My Land Plan Enters Its Second Year last year, the american Forest Foundation (aFF) launched my land plan to provide an online resource for woodland owners interested in learning more about their woods. today more than 1,800 woodland owners have signed up for the website at www.MyLandPlan.org to get information and tips on a wide variety of issues, including how to protect their investment in the face of threats such as invasive pests, droughts, wildfire and trespassers. nearly 200 foresters have also registered with the my land plan Forester directory to connect with other woodland owners. “my land plan is designed to help woodland owners learn about their land and identify their interests—whether those include improving wildlife habitat, recreational opportunities, birding, income or other goals,” says caroline kuebler, outreach manager with aFF. the website’s mapping tool was designed to help users map their land and record features such as streams, trails, plants, wildlife and special sites. Since my land plan launched last year, new features and functions have been added to make woodland conservation easier, more fun and more effective. ENTEr ThE 2013 TrEE fArM PhOTO CONTEsT! Back by popular demand! gUIDINg WOODLAND OWNErs TOWArD BETTEr sTEWArDshIP Woodland owners who want to attract birds to their land, improve soil health or find the right estate planner can use my land plan’s goals and actions section to learn about specific steps they can take to meet their goals. the goals and actions section is an easy way for landowners to select a variety of goals and learn how to achieve them with customized information provided based on the goals selected. the american tree Farm System® (atFS) and StiHl, inc., our proud partner in sustainability, are excited to bring you the 2013 tree Farm photo contest. this year’s contest is open to photographers of all ages and backgrounds and includes two categories: category 1: Scenic tree Farm landscapes with or without your tree Farm sign, and category 2: photos featuring multiple generations on your tree Farm walking, recreating or learning in the woods. the winner of each category will each receive a $500 product certificate good toward the purchase of StiHl products and accessories at your local authorized StiHl dealer. the runners up in each category will each receive a $250 StiHl product certificate. all winning images will be featured in our publications as well as on our website. these and other outstanding photos may also be featured in advertisements, on websites and other marketing materials for both atFS and StiHl. photo contest entries are now being accepted!
