That’s just what you’ll find in our 60-plus page special section focused on this month’s 93rd annual meeting of the Radiological Society of North America. Our “compass” will help you discover the latest and greatest imaging innovations and system enhancements in the exhibit hall focused on imaging excellent and ways to increase workflow and efficiency. From PACS to 64-slice CT to health IT and molecular imaging, you’ll find new tools to help you succeed. This year’s meeting brings an expansion of the Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise (IHE) Image Sharing Demonstration in the technical exhibit booths of participating vendors and in the Lakeside Learning Center across the skyway bridge. Vendors and care sites are demonstrating the IHE Cross-enterprise Document Sharing for Imaging (XDS-I) and Teaching File and Clinical Trial Export (TCE) integration profiles that enable radiologists to create and manage digital teaching files more easily. Also debuting is a new RSNA-hosted teaching file service based on RSNA’s Medical Imaging Resource Center (MIRC). To meet the call of consumers, regulators and payors demanding proof of quality, new this year is a Quality Improvement Symposium that runs on Tuesday, Nov. 27 from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Session topics include performance matrices, using IT to improve quality and safety, and change management. With the increasing diagnostic importance of molecular imaging, RSNA is fortifying the Molecular Imaging Zone that rolled out last year, introducing a day-long series of sessions for practicing radiologists focused on applications in oncology, cardiovascular imaging and neurology. The prevalence of cardiac CT also has spurred a new Mentored Cardiac CT Case Review, offered in conjunction with the North American Society for Cardiac Imaging, designed to assist radiologists satisfy one of the recommendations of the American College of Radiology Practice Guidelines for the Performance of Interpretation of Cardiac CT. For radiation oncologists, a new program—Bolstering Oncoradiologic and Oncotherapeutic Skills for Tomorrow (BOOST)—has been designed to forge new partnerships with radiologists. BOOST sessions run over four days, with each day dedicated to a specific type of cancer: head and neck, prostate, lung and gastrointestinal.
