TECHNOLOGY PREVIEWS Healthcare IT Bridges the Clinical Workflow Divide Streamlining workﬂow processes across the enterprise to increase efﬁciency and better care has always been the focus of healthcare IT vendors, and this year’s RSNA is no exception. Vendors are offering a variety of web-based solutions that close the loop on clinical and business operations such as patient scheduling, diagnostic reporting and virtual worklists. Carestream Health’s works-in-progress SuperPACS Architecture Double Black’s DICOMetrix PACS performance monitoring software Exogen’s Blue Ocean real-time care monitoring solution Amicas (Booth 7128) is showcasing three tools to help streamline work ow—Amicas Financials, Documents and Dashboards. Amicas Financials automates the identiﬁcation and management of denials and follow-up work ows for revenue cycle management. Amicas Documents is designed to facilitate compliance with the privacy and security guidelines mandated by HIPAA. Dashboards allows access to data for clinical and operational performance metrics. Amirsys (Booth 2801) is featuring its new STATdx premier integrated diagnostic decision support system. STATdx, an imaging point-of-care, diagnostic clinical decision support system, streamlines work ow by reducing the time required to research and complete a difﬁcult imaging analysis. Candelis (Booth 1509) is introducing its ImageGrid Integrated Radiology and Mammography Workstation, a thin-client appliance PC designed for radiology and mammography applications. The ImageGrid technology suite includes the ImageGrid PACS Web Viewer, ImageGrid PACS Mammography Web Viewer and ImageGrid PACS Referring Physician Viewer. Carestream Health (Booth 8342) is unveiling its new SuperPACS Architecture to connect disparate PACS at multiple sites throughout a healthcare system. Shown as a works in progress, the architecture will communicate with existing PACS from 56 Health Imaging & IT | November 2008 multiple vendors to create an enterprise-wide PACS that will offer a uniﬁed, common worklist. Compressus (Booth 4073) is spotlighting its MEDxConnect version 2.5 release. The new release features a full integration with GE Healthcare’s Centricity PACS and also includes full integration with PowerScribe speech recognition software. Other new features include the Order Management Module (OM2) module, which automatically creates an electronic order in cases where there is no RIS. A Study Forward feature enables users to pass studies to specialists or colleagues for consultations. Double Black Imaging (Booth 4676) is featuring an updated DICOMetrix, a proactive DICOM image ow and network performance monitoring solution. The new images per minute (IPM) feature allows for user-controlled monitoring on the enterprise version in IPM in addition to images per second (IPS). The IPM feature is beneﬁcial for monitoring slower modalities and slower inter-facility connections in a PACS enterprise that are typically approximately 1 IPS, the company says. Monitoring in IPM makes setting baseline and alert settings easier and more accurate. DICOMetrix is a resource tool that allows PACS administrators, directors and IT personnel to monitor and track system performance and alert radiology and PACS support staff about system HealthImaging.com http://www.HealthImaging.com
