The Deep South - a land of cotton, music and bourbon whisky - of mighty rivers, antebellum mansions and pristine white beaches - of poignant civil war battlefields that once threatened to split a nation, and of civil rights activists whose aim it was to unite a nation. The South’s borders aren’t defined so much by county lines, rather by hills and rivers, towns and cities, and by a way of life that’s a little more relaxed and ‘slow of pace’ than the rest of the USA. And this is how the locals like it! Arrive here and take a load off. Have a breakfast of biscuits and gravy, be enchanted by the southern drawl of the waitress or waiter that serves you, and wander off to explore this wonderful land. Louisiana Where the Cajuns and Creole peoples live. Outside New Orleans, this state is vast and beautiful, shaped by the Mississippi River and its Delta and home to some stunning swampland and wildlife, as well as cities such as Lafayette and Baton Rouge.
