In many American’s eyes, nowhere, and we mean nowhere else in the world, comes close to Aspen in cosmopolitan glitz, glamour and sheer style. Spread over four mountains, Aspen, Aspen Highlands, Buttermilk and Snowmass, this is the granddaddy of them all. The Skiing Aspen Mountain, Aspen Highlights, Buttermilk and Snowmass offer distinctly different terrain. Aspen: Such is the planning of the lifts – the Silver Queen gondola whisks you from base to the summit in 14 minutes. Steep, compact and teeming with moguls, Aspen has terrain to challenge the most accomplished athletes. Aspen Highlands has a special excitement all its own. Located three miles outside of Aspen, its 3,635-foot vertical rise offers some of the steepest terrain in Colorado. Yet, more than half of its terrain is ideal for beginners and intermediate. Snowmass: Just ten miles down the road Snowmass is a giant of a resort, that will especially appeal to beginners and families. The resort is purpose build and couldn’t be more different in looks and feel than its more famous neighbour. Once of the biggest assets of Snowmass is the sheer convenience, as most of the accommodation is of the ski in / ski out variety. Also this resort offers the greatest diversity of terrain among the four mountains. The final of the four mountains is Buttermilk, which is considered one of the premier learning mountains in the world – the combination of unparalleled grooming and gentle terrain creates one of the finest ski / snowboarding training grounds around and a kid’s favourite. Families Crèche and ski school facilities are available. Pre-booking is advised. Aspen & Snowmass: Typically American efficiency means that children of all ages and abilities have as much skiing and recreational fun as their parents. From the ‘Snow Club’, which takes care of those aged 6 weeks to 3 years, to ski school for those aged 13-19, Aspen and Snowmass will satisfy even most demanding offspring.
