Meet the new AUA Legislative Work Group in Orlando DURING THE 2008 A N N UA L Meeting, the reinvigorated AUA Government Relations and Advocacy Department will facilitate the first official meeting of the newly formed Legislative Work Group. This new group is charged with providing guidance and oversight to AUA staff to execute the legislative plan approved by the AUA Board of Directors in February 2008. The plan lays out a comprehensive strategy to raise the profile of urology on Capitol Hill and in federal agencies, mobilize our members to advocate for the field on key issues and engage in sustained efforts over time to ensure our success in the national and state policy arenas. The work group will serve as the primary sou nd i ng boa rd for AUA leg i slat ive engagement on various issues and proposed legislation, communicate AUA positions to fellow urologists by informing them on pressing issues and help urologists engage in the legislative process through grassroots activities. The work group is composed of Drs. Jeffrey Kaufman, Chris Gonzales, William Underwood, David Albala, Howard Snyder, Art Tarantino and Michael Conlin. AUA A nnual Meeting attendees are encouraged to speak with the AUA Legislative Work Group members and Government Relations and Advocacy staff to learn more about advocacy efforts under way to improve understanding by policymakers relative to the protection of urology and our interests. THIRD ANNUAL EMR DEMONSTRATION CHALLENGE ANNUAL MEETING ATTENDEES should plan to visit the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) Demonstration Challenge in Exhibit Hall C. Vendors of EMRs will be putting software through its paces in 30-minute demonstrations in the EMR Demonstration Theater.
