To ensure these key members of the clinician team are up to date on the latest treatment strategies and technology, Heart Rhythm 2008 offers 23 sessions and several networking events designed especially for them. Julie Shea, MS, RNCS, FHRS, said Wednesday’s Mini-Courses on “Interactive EP Basics” and “Workplace 2008” were sure to be two of the highlights, as will Thursday’s Core Curricula session on lead extraction. “Lead extraction is being offered for the fi rst time this year, giving Allied Professionals the opportunity to see what’s involved,” Shea said. “With aging transvenous leads and product recalls, this is becoming part of the landscape of device management.” The session includes a video demonstration of the procedure. Networking events are one of the highlights of the meeting for Allied Professionals. Luncheons take place Thursday and Friday at 12:15 p.m. Don’t miss the Allied Professionals Lounge, Room 110, on the lower level concourse between the north and south buildings of the Moscone Center, which will be available throughout the duration of the meeting. The Allied Professional Abstract Sessions on Thursday and Friday feature abstracts by Allied Professionals, for Allied Professionals. Attendees will see the top-scoring abstracts from various areas of study. Infinity Circle Announced The Hearth Rhythm Society recently introduced the Infinity Circle, a program designed to recognize those companies that support the Society in significant ways throughout the year. “Through an ongoing assessment of our members’ needs we identify programs that will allow us to provide year-round education for the field,” said Jacy Hanson, Business Development Officer. “The generous educational grants from our industry supporters enable us to provide year-round member education including on-demand access to CME programs through the Society’s website.” Furthermore, the grants support the Society’s efforts to respond with alerts, educational materials, and programs when events such as drug or device issues occur unexpectedly. The synergy created by industry relationships also facilitates knowledge and solutions to meet these challenges. In addition, these contributions enable the Society to create new initiatives, such as AF 360° and SCA 360°, which will ultimately lead to improved patient diagnosis, treatment and care by engaging health care providers, payers, government agencies, and patient advocates. This year, the Heart Rhythm Society’s Infinity Circle members include Medtronic, Boston Scientific, St. Jude Medical, sanofiaventis, Biotronik, Biosense Webster, Sorin Group, CryoCath Technologies, and Stereotaxis, Inc.
