The Source- Reporters' Guide to Legal Experts - 2008-2009 - (Page 1) Foreword In legal media, speed and access are critical. Deadlines are often looming. Identifying the appropriate legal expert for your story can be a daunting task. With these challenges in mind, The University of Alabama School of Law is pleased to present The Source: Reporters’ Guide to Legal Experts. It serves as a one-stop resource for pinpointing and contacting legal scholars and experts regarding broad-based as well as niche legal topics. Faculty members at The University of Alabama School of Law have been featured on ABC News’ Good Morning America, NPR’s All Things Considered, as well as in NBC News, BBC, PBS, The New York Times, BusinessWeek, Newsweek, Time, The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, and USA Today, among numerous other national and regional media outlets. The Source is organized in a fully online book conducive for searching quickly and accurately for the legal scholar whose expertise fits the topic of your story. For example, a search for “pensions” will guide you to Professor Norman Stein, a foremost expert on the topic whose pension law analysis has appeared in nearly every national print, radio, and television media outlet. Whether your story is on the U.S. Supreme Court, constitutional law, tax law, international law, environmental law, or any other specialization represented within the Law School’s faculty, The Source can serve as your primary guide. The Law School’s faculty experts are committed to furthering their contribution to the national conversation regarding the top legal issues of our day. Their talents are reflected in -- among other things -- The University of Alabama School of Law’s ranking as a “Top 11 Public Law School” by U.S. News and World Report and 2nd on the National Jurist’s “Best Value List.” Moreover, eight U.S. Supreme Court Justices have lectured at the Law School, including five in the last five years. If you have any questions on using The Source or would like to schedule an on-the-record, off-the-record, or background interview with a legal expert, please contact Aaron V. Latham, Manager of Communications, at (205) 348-5195 or alatham@law.ua.edu. 1
