In 1987, he received his M.J.S. from the University of Nevada. Judge Colquitt joined the Law School on a permanent basis in 1991. Judge Colquitt was a Circuit Judge of the Sixth Judicial Circuit of Alabama from 1971-1991. During that time, he served four terms as Presiding Judge. He also served on the Executive Committee of the Alabama Circuit Judges Association from 1974-1991. Judge Colquitt is the author of Alabama Law of Evidence and Alabama Criminal Trial Practice Forms. He regularly teaches at judicial colleges and seminars, and has taught at the Russian Legal Academy in Moscow. He was recently appointed to the editorial board of The Judges’ Journal, a publication for members of the Judicial Division of the American Bar Association. He also serves on the Council of the Alabama Law Institute and several committees for the Alabama judiciary. During 2007, Judge Colquitt published articles in the Fordham Urban Law Journal, the Fordham Law Review, and Connecticut Law Review. He was named a Dean’s Scholar for 2007- 2008. John Shahar Dillbary Assistant Professor of Law Email: sdillbary@law.ua.edu Phone: 205-348-9988 Expertise: Intellectual Property, Economic Analysis of the Law, Antitrust Professor Dillbary received his B.A. in economics and LL.B. in law, Summa Cum Laude, from Bar Ilan University in Israel. He received his LL.M., with honors, and his J.S.D. from the University of Chicago, where he was a Fulbright Scholar and a John M. Olin Scholar in Law and Economics. Professor Dillbary was an associate with Weil, Gotshal & Manges, LL.P. in New York where his practice focused on antitrust and intellectual property. Professor Dillbary has also practiced law with the law firms of S. Horrowitz & Co. and Meitar, Liqournik, Geva & Co. in Tel Aviv until 2002, where he focused on complex commercial litigation. During his time at Meitar, he provided legal counsel to private and public companies on matters including shareholders’ conflicts, bankruptcy proceedings, trademarks, and privacy. Professor Dillbary’s scholarship focuses on the intersection between law and economics. He recently published “Famous Trademarks and the Rational Basis for Protecting Irrational Beliefs,” in the George Mason Law Review and “The Role of Trademarks in Intra-Brand Settings: An Economic Analysis,” which argues that intra-brand information reduces consumers’ uncertainty costs. 6
