She has three children and two grandchildren. She is enjoying retirement, traveling as much as possible. Gladys White Durant (StCB, BS el ed ’58) retired from the attleboro school department in 2003. She remains active with the Mta at the local, county, and state level and is involved with the Delta Kappa Gamma Society. She serves on several boards and is a parliamentarian. She has one son and no grandchildren and has lived in California and ohio. Rosemary Cusick foy (StCB, BS ed ’58) is married to Gerald J. Foy, and they have three daughters and six grandchildren. they enjoy traveling and attending programs at the North Shore Music theater. rosemary retired from lynn public schools as a special education administrator. Walter J. Gleason (StCB, BS el ed ’58) works as a professor of mathematics at Bridgewater State College in Bridgewater, Mass. Albert E. Goetz Jr. (StCB, BS ed ’58) has retired from the Mansfield school department but is still working as an environmental consultant for the town of Norwood. He is married to Ellen Devine Goetz ’58, and they have three children and two grandchildren. ellen retired as an art teacher from the Walpole public schools. Dorothy C. Greenbaum (StCB, BS el ed ’58) recently traveled to Philadelphia and Washington, D.C., where she saw the Dalai lama. She has also traveled to San Francisco, which is her second-favorite city, and london, which is her favorite foreign destination. Janet Gaddis hambleton (StCB, BS el ed ’58) and her husband, John, have lived in alaska, Maine, New york, Pennsylvania, illinois, louisiana, and Florida. When they retired, they moved to Cape Cod. they have a son, John Jr., and daughter, Deborah, and four grandchildren: John iii, Katherine, and Zachary Hambleton; and Caitlin Mooney. orene E. hare (StCB, BS ed ’58) just celebrated her 50th wedding anniversary with her husband Frank. they have three sons, one daughter, and three grandchildren. they have lived at their current address for 46 years! She writes, “i only taught four years— too busy being a mom—but loved both jobs.” Joanne Papahagis Jeffers (StCB, BS el ed ’58) writes, “Married to Jeff, a retired engineer, for 48 years. i have four children and eight grandchildren. i am involved in community projects and direct a local theater company. our monthly travel schedule keeps Southwest airlines in business!” Phyllis Corley kayata (StCB, BS el ed ’58) taught in Norwood, Mass., and Pawtucket, r.i., retiring in June 2001. She and her husband have two daughters, two sons, and two grandchildren. Phyllis kane kelleher (StCB, BS el ed ’58) has two children: Dr. Kathleen Kelleher Utech, a pediatrician who practices in ohio; and Christine Kelleher, who is at e.a.r.t.H. University in Costa rica. She and her husband enjoy visiting ohio monthly to see their twin grandchildren, Joy and Christopher. Mary Robertson kennedy (StCB, BS el ed ’58) is currently an adjunct faculty member at Suffolk University and is assistant carillonneur at St. Stephen’s Church in Cohasset. She occasionally works as a conference coordinator for the National tax institute. She has a son, a daughter, and three grandchildren. Ben L. Limoli (StCB, BS ed ’58) has two children and four grandchildren. He and his wife have been married for 50 years. He enjoys golfing, music, traveling, and looking forward to getting old some day! Judith Wilfand Maltz (StCB, BS ed ’58) has been married for 57 years. She has three children, and six grandchildren, ages 1123. one is a graduate of Georgia tech and two girls are in college now. She’s traveled a great deal, to such places as Vietnam, Cambodia, South africa, europe, and other regions of asia. tCCB, StCB, SCB, and BSC grads… You’re home now. that’s a new feeling for many alumni of UMass Boston’s legacy schools. as they connect with one another through alumni programming, these graduates recognize the continuation of their alma mater’s traditions through the university’s mission of research, teaching, and service. if you know of an alumnus/a who is not receiving UMass Boston magazine or other mailings, please let us know at alumni@umb.edu or 617.287.5058. Thomas M. hand (StCB, BS el ed ’58) taught in Puerto rico for the US Department of Health, Education, and Welfare in 1962. He has two daughters; one is a nurse at Franciscan Children’s Hospital and the other is a teacher in Newton. He just returned from a trip to ireland in January. He has also done some sky diving! francina Grimes hanlon (StCB, BS el ed ’58) has been married for 45 years and has three children and two grandchildren. She taught for 32 years in arlington and Billerica, retiring in 1999. She has traveled throughout the U.S., ireland, and the U.K. Her fondest memories of college are of Nature Study with Miss O’Doherty, which deeply influenced her life by developing an awareness and love of nature. Sheila Cullinane harlow (StCB, BS el ed ’58) was widowed in 2004. She has three children who work as a banker, a lawyer, and a sales manager. Sheila also has five grandchildren. Janet T. healy (StCB, BS ed ’58) traveled in 2007 to Sicily and Machu Picchu, Peru, and in 2008 she traveled to Spain and Portugal. She retired from teaching in Chelsea in 1993 and the North Shore Community College in 2007. Gerald J. hurley (StCB, BS el ed ’58) taught middle school for 40 years. He has spent time in europe, and his wife is from Germany. He now works parttime for the USa Boxing-olympic Committee and is busy with the english High School alumni association as a member of their Board of Directors. 20 n UMass Boston
