Teach Next Year is an intensive and highly selective full-time program. It features a full-school-year internship, with most graduate course work completed onsite in the Boston and Randolph Public Schools. Most participants receive financial incentives provided, in part, by grants. Please contact the Department of Curriculum and Instruction for additional information. b) Boston Teacher Residency Program Aligned with TNY, the Boston Teacher Residency Program (BTR) recruits talented college graduates, career changers and community members of all ages and gives them the tools to make an immediate impact in the classrooms of the Boston Public Schools. (BPS). Combining a yearlong classroom apprenticeship with targeted master’s-level coursework, the program provides every Teacher Resident with the practical learning, hands-on experience and ongoing support essential to any successful career in teaching. Disciplinary Core (12 cr. for MEd, 3 for certificate): Four courses at the 500 or 600 level, drawn from the discipline in which licensure is sought or from other participating departments. These courses should be chosen by the student in consultation with his/her disciplinary advisor, to assure that they represent a coherent specialization. Some disciplines may have more restrictive requirements than are listed here. [Certificate students take one.] Capstone Core (12 cr. for both MEd and certificate): A. Capstone Pedagogy: EDC G 690: Teacher Research for Professional Licensure EDC G 698: Internship For Spanish, add one from the following: CRCRTH 630: Creativity in Literature and Arts EDC G 620: Designing Instruction: The Arts EDC G 626: Integrating Social Studies, Language Arts, and Arts B.
