Courses for this certificate program are: EDC G 610 Technology-Mediated Learning Designs* EDC G 611 Emerging Technologies: Making Thinking Visible and Constructing Knowledge Socially* EDC G 614 New Literacies: Digital Media Designs and Collaboration* EDC G 676 Transcending Boundaries with Technology EDC G 684 Technology in Special Education The Program The Technology, Learning, and Leadership certificate program is designed for practicing and aspiring teachers whose aim is to innovate, understand, and critically examine when and how to actively engage their students while integrating technology. Participants in this certificate program will learn with and through technology while thinking deeply about how different technologies support and facilitate learning for their students. Through considering technology and pedagogy together, course activities aim to support teachers in seeing the transformative potentials of classroom learning. Teachers will be able to bring these new skills, insights, and reflections to their current or future classrooms. Overall, the certificate seeks to encourage teacher understanding of innovative designs that will ultimately move their students toward successfully participating, learning, and working in a twenty-first century world. The certificate meets the International Society of Technology Education/National Technology Standards, the Performance Indicators for Teachers, and the Massachusetts Recommended Pre K-12 Instructional Technology Standards. This program has several aims. Each thread has the underlying goal of addressing the current trends in educational technology as well as the participation gap in urban populations. 1. Provide a foundational understanding of the design, implementation, and adaptation of research-based twenty-first century learning environments. 2. Support teachers’ social and cultural awareness through participation in knowledge construction and the development of learning spaces to foster equal access and participation. 3. Assist future teachers in utilizing emerging technologies for their own professional development, in their classroom * Pending governance approval.
