The University of Northern Iowa College of Education - Fall 2007 - (Page 17) Excellence in Teacher Education UNI College of Education Faculty Awards The College of Education’s annual awards were presented in spring 2007. Recipients included: Mary Herring Mary Herring, associate professor/Curriculum & Instruction, for Outstanding Professional Service; John Henning Kathleen Scholl, assistant professor/Health, Physical Education and Leisure Services, received the 2007 Veridian Credit Union Community Engagement Award for the College of Education. Her community involvement is with the Family YMCA of Black Hawk County’s “Together We Play (TWP)” program that supports inclusion and support services for children with disabilities and their families. Scholl helped the program maintain and gain funding resources and has written and published articles about the TWP recreation and after-school program. Faculty from each UNI college were honored and all received $1000 donated to the nonprofit organization they assist. Susan Roberts-Dobie, assistant professor/ Health Physical Education & Leisure Services, for Outstanding Teaching; John Henning, associate professor/Educational Psychology & Foundations for Outstanding Research; Susan Roberts-Dobie Kurt Meredith Timothy Weih University Book & Supply annually awards a UNI faculty member in each college with an Outstanding Teaching Award. Timothy Weih, assistant professor/ Curriculum & Instruction, was the 2007 College of Education recipient. Kurt Meredith, associate professor/Curriculum & Instruction, was given the Ross A.
