A graduate in mechanical engineering and business administration, he last ran the business of Unaxis Balzers AG, a worldwide operator and leading equipment supplier in the fields of semiconductor technology, data storage and displays. At Ruwel, he will manage the divisions of production, R&D, quality and finance. Dr. William Beckenbaugh was named chief technology officer at Multi-Fineline Electronix, provider of flexible printed circuits and assemblies. Dr. Beckenbaugh will be responsible for the company’s packaging and flex printed circuit technology base and commercializing M-Flex’s technological innovations. Dr. Beckenbaugh has 30 years of senior-level leadership as a CEO, CTO and vice president for various companies. Most recently, he was vice president of operations for Akrometrix LLC, and was previously with Hadco, Sanmina-SCI and Motorola. Matthew Farabaugh was appointed vice president and controller for Park Electrochemical Corp. Farabaugh was corporate controller for American Technical Ceramics prior to joining Park. He has a BS in business administration from Valparaiso University. Farabaugh replaces James Zerby, who retired in October. Xiangyang Song, Ph.D., has joined the engi. neering team at J. P Sercel Associates (JPSA), a designer, supplier and systems integrator of laser materials processing workstations. Dr. Song previously worked at Argonne National Laboratory and at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where he specialized in femtosecond laser research using Ti: Sapphire and Excimer lasers. He has more than a decade of working experience in applied optics, X-ray, and laser technology and research. Dan Spencer has been named vice president of sales and marketing industry sales at Circuit Images, Boulder, CO. Spencer is an industry veteran who comes to Circuit Images with extensive sales experience in the PCB market. He has worked with a number of industry leaders including Hadco, Coretec and Sanmina. FlowCAD, based in Germany, offers a complete design flow solution. It was founded from Cadence’s local PCB sales and support organization and focuses on the local needs of system designers. Parallel Systems is an EDA distributor in the U.K. and Ireland. Exception PCB has signed a $500,000 contract to supply a Turkish electronics business within the defense market with PCBs. Exception PCB was named the 26th-largest PCB producer in Europe during a presentation by 12 Walt Custer at the EIPC conference in Copenhagen in October. According to Garry Myatt, sales director at Exception PCB, the aerospace and defense sectors have grown over the past year, making military products as much as 25% of Exception PCB’s total turnover. Military products are produced for EU countries, such as France, Sweden, Turkey and the Netherlands, and for other areas, including the U.S. and South Africa. Two leading companies in the European PCB industry, Sun Chemical Circuits and MacDermid, have joined forces. MacDermid, a supplier of speciality chemicals for PCB fabrication, will be selling solder mask inks, legend inks and ancillary products from Sun Chemical Circuits to the PCB industry. Somacis Holding has signed a joint venture agreement with the Korean company Cosmotech to work together in Brazil and to develop a future partnership project in Korea. The partnership is aimed at commercial collaboration in the Brazilian market, a market in which Somacis has been present in since 1999 and where it has its own production facility. The partnership also sets the base for the combined development of business in Korea and Asia.
